Homemade Whipped Shea Butter Body/Hand Scrub

I absolutely love body scrubs. They are the best gifts to give. So when I started making everything homemade I wanted to make the something a bit different.  I have a friend who is blind and for her to use the body scrub that I started off with (oil on top and sugar sitting on the bottom was a bit hard for her to use. It was falling all over the place and she couldn't see where to clean up the mess.  I thought, "Why can't I use butters for scrubs". Truth is you can and it is amazing. When using butters it is creamy and oh sooooo soft. Why didn't I try this earlier.  After trying recipe after recipe I finally got a keeper, not just for me but for my friend as well and hopefully for you too.

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Shea Butter
1/4 Cup Grape seed Oil ( or any carrier oil you like) I like grape seed since it is not as greasy as the others
1 Tsp of Vitamin E Oil or 2 caps of the Vitamin E oil
1 Tbsp Arrowroot Powder or cornstarch (this helps with make the scrub to be less greasy)
1 Cup of Sugar (white or brown)
Essential oils or Fragrance Oils ( I used 5 drops of each: Sweet orange, Lime, Lemongrass, Grapefruit & Lemon) the smell of citrus- Yum!!! I also added orange zest to this batch.

Directions:
Soften the shea butter in the microwave for about 15 seconds (Do not melt) if your shea is really hard. Use a hand blender/mixer and mix your shea until it is fluffy. This can take up to 4 minutes. Gradually add the carrier oil and vitamin E oil. Then slowly add the arrowroot powder. Mix well. If you do not mix well there will be clumps in the mix. Now you can add your essential or fragrance oils. Last, pour in your sugar.

This will make (2) 8 oz. jars. These make great Christmas gifts or Birthday gifts. Please share and let me know what you think.

God Bless!
