For months now I've contemplated if I should share this awesome homemade deodorant recipe with you. But I cannot be selfish and keep this amazing recipe all to my self. It truly is the best that I have made and it works absolutely wonderful. I have had friends try it out and they now come back for more. That's a good sign that it works. I must tell you though, if you are use to using a antiperspirant your body will go through a detox for about a week. When I first started using this I had to carry it around with me in my purse. I had to apply it every two - four hours. Talk about smelling bad, but right around the sixth day, I only had to apply it once. Since then, I smell AWESOME :) However, I do sweat now and on a hot day my under arms are a bit wet but I still smell good. After much trial and error I finally came up with the great recipe. I hope you try it out for yourself and let me know what you think.
Ingredients:
1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Mango Butter
1/4 Cup Beeswax
1/2 Tsp. Vitamin E Oil
1/4 Cup + 1 1/2 Tbs. Arrowroot Powder
20 + Drops Essential Oils (My favorite blends are: 10 drops of lime, 5 drops of tea tree, 5 drops lemongrass) this is an awesome combo :)
Directions:
Melt the coconut oil, mango butter and beeswax in a double boiler until all ingredients are melted together. Remove from heat and add vitamin E oil & essential oils ( you can use a fragrance instead if you prefer. I love using essential oils). Mix together, then add the arrowroot powder very slowly. Once blended together pour into your deodorant container. It will take about a hour or so for it to completely cool. You could also place it in the fridge for it to set up faster.
How did it ever work out, long term? Are you still using it?
