I love this homemade moisturizing lotion. My daughters and myself suffer from very dry skin. Especially in the winter times our skin is like the skin of an alligator. I have tried so many different lotions and creams, from the cheapest to the most expensive. I did find one that I love but the cost became to much for my family. I can honestly say that this lotion is awesome. I have had complements on the smell and how smooth my skin feels. Test it out for yourself and see. I promise you'll love it too.
Items needed:
Scale
Measuring Cup
24 ounces Distilled water
4 ounces Jojoba Oil
1 ounce Vegetable Glycerin
1.2 ounces Emulsifying Wax
1.2 ounces Steric Acid
essential oils
bottles
Directions:
Place your measuring cup on your scale. Since we need it to be at zero you need to hit the tare button. Now it should be at 0. Add each ingredient one at a time, hitting the tare button after each one.
When all the ingredients have been mixed together place the measuring cup into a double boiler. You can mix it while it is melting. It should take about 10 minutes.
Once it is completely melted remove from the boiler and with a hand mixer, mix the ingredients until nice and smooth.
Last thing you will do is add your preservative and essential oils. Again, use your scale and place the measuring cup on it with the lotion inside. Hit the tare button and add your essential oils.
1/3 ounce preservatives (such as rosemary)
1/3 ounce essential oil (such as sweet orange and lavender)
Again, mix with the hand mixer. The mixture will be a bit watery but it will thicken as it sits. Pour into your bottles. This one I got from Walmart for only $0.50
Check out this site. They sell the emulsifying wax, steric acid and oils for a really good price.

The recipe looks like it'd be awesome, however, rosemary is not a preservative and should not be used as one. You must use a broad spectrum preservative in this recipe; just because you can't see mold and bacteria doesn't mean it isn't there, until it's too late. You can Google the best preservatives to use for lotions.
