DIY Kombucha Tea

Recently I have been on a Kombucha kick. I just love the taste of it and how it makes me feel. Those of you who drink this addicting beverage know that it is expensive. Where I live, it cost on average $3.99 a bottle. I drink one bottle every day. So multiply that by 7, that's $28 a week, more than $100+ a month. Now you see why I decided to make my own. And, I'm glad I did. I didn't realize how easy this was going to be nor did I realize how CHEAP this was to make. And do I love cheap!

My 1st bottle of Strawberry KT

Kombucha tea is so easy to make. However, the cost of starting up can cost you a bit but it eventually will pay for itself.

I'm already on batch number 3 and I am loving it. And as said in the statement above, it definitely has paid for itself. My first batch made 6 (16 oz) bottles with enough reserve for my other batches that I made. My second batch I was able to make 2 (1 gallons) since now I had 2 Scoby's. For every batch you make a new Scoby will form. So far I have been able to make 18 (16 oz) bottles. That is $72+ which I made back from the start up cost. Eventually it will cost pennies to make this. I promise you, it is worth the cost to start making this.

I also reused the GT Kombucha Bottles

Here was my start up cost:

Scoby kit - $24.88 (Buy Here)
Ez Cap 16 oz. Bottles $39.99  (Buy Here) or use reused GT Kombucha bottles
1 gallon Glass Jar  $11.99  (Buy Here)

Other ingredients that you must liking have on hand:

8 Black tea bags and/or Green Tea
1 cup Pure Cane Sugar
1 gallon Filter water

I will not go into on how to make this but here is a link  that has great details on how to make your very own. This is the same site I learned to make mine. She did a wonderful job on explaining the process and it is in great detail.

Happy Kombucha Everyone :-)
