Homemade Vapor Rub Safe For The Whole Family

So, last night right before I went to bed, I hear two of my children coughing. So, I went to check on them and both had coughs and a stuffy nose.  "Thank God" for the Internet. I quickly began searching homemade recipes that I can quickly mix up and I found several but none really caught my eye. I was looking for something that would benefit my children, husband & myself if we needed it. I wanted something very similar to the popular brand. Finally I found one recipe that I thought would work. I just had to tweak it just a tad bit to make it my own. Once done, I ran upstairs and applied my wonderful concoction on my children's chest and on the sides of the nose. Low and behold, they said it helped them breath much better. I hope this recipe works for you as it did for us.

Ingredients:

1 tbsp beeswax
1/8 cup organic coconut oil
1/8 cup carrier oil (I used grapeseed oil)
25 drops peppermint essential oil
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops cinnamon essential oil

Directions:

In a double boiler melt your beeswax and coconut oil. Once melted, give it a quick stir & let it sit for a few minutes then add your carrier oil. Mix again. If your wax & carrier oils are still to hot wait until it is cool enough to add your essential oils. Temperature should be lower than 110 degrees. If you add the essential oils while still hot it will destroy the great benefits it offers. They are volatile, meaning that heat isn't their friend, making them evaporate into the atmosphere instead of staying in your product. Once all your ingredients are combined together store in an airtight jar or container. Use as you would the store bought product.

Enjoy!
